WES had 41 JPO’s competing at the Central Oahu Regional Park on April 15, 2016 with 53 other schools. Our students were proud to score 100 points on their drill! The judges were Marines from Kaneohe with strict criteria. For their 100 earned score, the Waipahu Eagles’ team were in sync, aligned, and executed all commands properly with no response to all the possible distractions on the huge field. Both Mayor Kirk Caldwell and Chief of Police Louis Kealoha congratulated our JPO’s for their service and dedication as did DOE’s Jan Meeker.
Afterwards HPD treated the kids to music, some schools performed short talent skits, and everyone celebrated their service with ice cream. Mrs. Matsumoto and Mrs. Bennett look forward to passing out the student’s blue ribbons and earned medals at our WES award ceremony as our school year end. CONGRATS WAIPAHU EAGLE JPO’s!
Out of 909 entries statewide from both public and private schools, the Tech Trekkers Multimedia Afterschool Program are finalists for the Olelo Youth Xchange video contest. The two videos are part of the “Peace” and “Be a Jerk” category. Tech Trekkers attended an Awards Ceremony on April 27, 2016 at the Sheraton Waikiki and placed first in the Olelo Youth Xchange Peace Category!
